Rilke is an independent creative studio based in North West London. Established in 2009 by David Davidopoulos and Kate Smith, Rilke set out with a clear mandate; We want to produce work that matters. Our dedication to this end has earned us a reputation for intelligent and engaging creative solutions that deliver results.
Working with Clients both large and small, in the UK and overseas, we produce a diverse range of work across multiple disciplines. However, regardless of the type of creative, medium or platform we always start with one fundamental step: we question. Our experience has taught us that only when we know and understand the
problem intimately are we able to identify the most effective solution.
We develop concepts & identities, build websites & apps, layout magazines, books & reports, design packaging and create adverts & campaigns that shape experience. We are problem solvers, makers and story tellers.
THE QUIET MARK TREEHOUSE BY JOHN LEWIS
John Lewis is breaking new ground with the adoption of the Quiet Mark standard which aims to help customers discern product sound quality of appliances and technology, highlighting next generation low noise high performing design. We were approached to create supporting collateral for the Quiet Mark Treehouse at the 2014 Hampton Court Flower show.
ARTHRITIS RESEARCH UK: THE CHELSEA FLOWER SHOW
We returned to the Chelsea Flower Show for our second year with Arthritis Research UK to create the garden guide and collateral for the event. The garden was created by award-winning UK gardener Chris Beardshaw, who is perhaps best known for his work on the BBC's long-running television series, Gardeners' World. We teamed up with the incredibly talented illustrator Irene Laschi to realise a vision of the garden that was as vivid and distinct as the garden itself. The garden received a gold medal and won the peoples choice.
TERRENCE HIGGINS TRUST: THE SUPPER CLUB
The Supper Club is a unique social fundraising event organised by HIV charity The Terrence Higgins Trust. The charity's strong following of celebrity supporters hosted dinners at some of London’s finest restaurants including China Tang, Chrysan, Locanda Locatelli and Gauthier Soho. We were approached to develop the look & feel of the event, marketing collateral and the accompanying restaurant guide.
In 2012 we were approached by Black Robot, an advertising agency operating out of Johannesburg, South Africa, to develop their visual identity. We looked at the existing creative style they had developed over the years and created a brand identity that resonated with their work.

MACS is a multinational shipping company, with offices in Hamburg and Cape Town. We were approached to create an effective sales profile that could showcase the companies unique self loading fleet of cargo ships. We created a series of detailed models that presented the fleets on board crane configurations while highlighting load capacities for each ship at the same time. The content for the company profile was developed through detailed interviews with key partners.
PIKLER UK ASSOCIATION
Emmi Pikler (1902-1984) initiated the creation of an orphanage in Budapest in 1946 where she developed a unique approach to infant childcare. Her forward thinking approach is still considered a gold standard for infant childcare today. We were approached to develop a visual identity for the newly formed Pikler UK Association.
2020: TEN YEARS, TEN GOALS
2020: Ten Years, Ten Goals is an Arthritis Research UK initiative in which high net worth individuals are approached to join and support the charity in achieving 10 goals by the year 2020. To support the campaign, we created a booklet of interweaving personal stories from people whose lives have been changed by arthritis – and how the charity has subsequently helped them – with inspiring revelations from scientists and staff working for the charity. We used a raw portraiture style to support the open, frank feel of the campaign.
COYA, 118 PICCADILLY
Rilke were commissioned to create a striking visual identity for Coya; an exclusive Peruvian restaurant and private members bar situated in the Georgian building of 118 Piccadilly, London. We worked closely with interior designers, Sagrada, to align the identity with restaurants distinct and modern interior.
EVERYMAN MALE CANCER CAMPAIGN
The Everyman Male Cancer campaign was struggling to connect with its audience and needed to assess and redress the brands tone and image. Our target was, literally, every man. A key insight to the brand’s tonality is that most men remain boys/lads throughout their lives. So how do we speak to the lad within every man – no matter what his age? Our aim was to subvert his reticence in an overt, brash, ‘blokey’ way – using humour to get men involved with a subject they would otherwise chose to avoid.
THE LIGHTHOUSE GALA AUCTION
Terrence Higgins Trust approached us to create the marketing material and auction guide for their The Lighthouse Gala Auction, which took place a Christie's. Artworks were donated by several prominent artists in support of the charity.
BUNNY & CLYDE
Bunny & Clyde create wood based nursery furniture that borders on art. Each piece is hand crafted to an exceptionally high standard using beautiful woods such as Red Oak and American Maple. We worked with them to create the companies identity and online presence.
